With just under three months to go until the highlight of the Melges 24 season - the World Championship in Trieste - the class continues to build momentum with the next stop of the 2025 Melges 24 European Sailing Series, held in Monfalcone, Italy.

Taking place from July 4-6, this event marks the seventh act of the European series and also serves as the second stage of the 2025 Trofeo Gaudi, part of the Italian Melges 24 circuit. The regatta is organized by Yacht Club Monfalcone, under the leadership of its President Germano Scarpa, in collaboration with the International Melges 24 Class Association and the Italian Melges 24 Class.

The venue, Marina Monfalcone, is a top-tier sailing hub in the Adriatic region, It is base of the new Red Bull Sailing Academy, where top-level athletes train in high-performance disciplines.

Nearly 20 teams from six countries are confirmed on the starting line for three days of intense racing, offering an excellent benchmark for those aiming to peak at the Worlds. Among the standout entries are Michele Paoletti's Strambapapà, a former European Champion, and Peter Karrie's Nefeli, winner of the Bacardi Cup in Miami. Also in the mix are top Corinthian challengers such as Zhik Race Team with Miles Quinton, Michael Tarabochia's White Room, and Chinook skippered by Akos Csolto. The entry list also includes Melgina with Paolo Brescia at the helm, and Daito Nano of Dino Orioli, who impressed in Riva del Garda with a race victory.

The battle on the water will be for the Under-24 teams' ranking too. A program strongly promoted by the Class to attract the best young talents and yacht clubs to the one-design world of Melges 24.

Loris Plet, Director of YC Monfalcone: "Yacht Club Monfalcone is proud to host for the first time a Melges 24 European Sailing Series stage in Monfalcone and this fantastic class, the point of reference for one-design racing. All is set at Marina Monfalcone, and we're ready to offer the best sail racing experience to all the Melges 24 sailors."

Marcello Caldonazzo Arvedi, Italian Melges 24 Class President, shares his excitement on the upcoming Melges 24 event in Italy: "We are very happy to host our friends from all over Europe for the second stage of the first ever Trofeo Gaudi: with a competitive entry list, we will be seeing the close and exciting racing our class is known for. We also thank YC Monfalcone for the opportunity to be among the first to run in this sailing hub since the completion of the upgrades brought by the brand new Red Bull Sailing Academy, which makes this event even more unique."

The race schedule allows up to nine races, with the first discard coming into play after the fifth. The final warning signal on Sunday is scheduled no later than 16:00, with the prize-giving to follow at Yacht Club Monfalcone.

This Monfalcone regatta is more than just another stop on the tour — it's a crucial milestone on the #RoadToTriesteWorlds, where teams fine-tune their performance ahead of the biggest showdown of the season.
