ST290: A breakthrough in high performance instrument systems

by ADPR 10 Nov 2002 10:19 GMT

Raymarine are proud to announce the launch of ST290, its brand new, high technology instrument system. Designed for owners and navigators of premium sail and motor yachts, ST290 combines advanced graphical instrument displays with SeaTalk2®, a new faster communications protocol.

Each ST290 system comes with a large scale, high contrast Graphic Display that clearly shows information in both graphic form and big, bold numbers. This large-scale display uses the latest Silverback™ LCD technology, which offers unparalleled viewing angle and contrast in all light conditions.

The windows-like menu is easy to use and makes calling up any piece of information quick and easy. With the added convenience of the ‘Favourites’ feature, the user can customise the ST290 instruments to show precisely the information they want to see, where and when they wish to see it.

ST290 also uses SeaTalk2®, a newly developed communications method ready for the latest NMEA 2000 protocol. NMEA 2000 is a new industry standard that is up to 20 times faster than existing standard protocols, meaning that data can be communicated and updated more quickly than ever before.

Other displays in the instrument system include a large two line instrument capable of displaying any two items of boat information at one time. This display can be set up to automatically scroll through a user-specified data sequence. Analogue instruments include Wind, Heading, and Rudder Angle, with separate keypads for full remote control of digital displays, autopilot control and Man Overboard functions.

Using standard computer interfacing the ST290 can communicate with PC based navigation planning systems such as Raymarine’s Raytech Sail Racer program.

ST290 will ship in volume in September 2002, with the product featuring on high-profile boats at many of the autumn Boat Shows.

® SeaTalk is the registered Trade Mark of Raymarine Group Limited
