Mike Horns Latitute 0° Circumnavigation Update
by Mike Horn 9 Mar 2000 12:11 GMT
Mike Horn has successfully traversed the Atlantic Ocean, the South American continent and has just completed the Pacific Ocean Crossing. Here is his last message after completing this stage:
Dear all,
I'm sorry I haven't written for a while. I'm still in Monada and if all goes as planned I hope to leave for the Equator tomorrow.
It took me a little longer than expected to get my sail back. It's been
repaired now so I feel better knowing that I have this to get me to Lat 0 and then Borneo. There has been some rather bad weather recently and I've had to work hard just to keep my boat moored in the one spot. I hope to check the hulls tomorrow before I set off again.
In the meantime had some nice contacts with the local people and have enjoyed the Indonesian food. A new taste for me.
I'm looking forward to reaching the Equator soon and to do the traverse of Celebes. Just hope the weather will aid me to make a quick safe trip back to Lat O°
Otherwise, all's okay. Still thinking of you and am appreciating all the letters of encouragement I'm receiving from the Motor Show. Thanks for your thoughts.
Regards to you all.
Mike
