 Reaction wins overall |
Over the Weekend of 10th/11th May the first East Anglian Offshore Racing Association (EAORA) event was sailed from West Mersea & Burnham. 25 boats entered in three classes over two day races. Malcolm Hutchins in his Hunter Impala 28 `Reaction` started off his season in winning ways by taking 1st in class and 1st Overall both days. This result is more than just a 1st on the water - it’s a first for EAORA. No yacht has achieved this result over a weekends racing in their 50-year history so well done Malcolm and his crew! `Reaction` has a full suit of Hyde Sails and has worked closely with the Hyde design team optimise their performance. This season is the time to perform for East Coast based Impala’s as the Nationals are to be held at Ramsgate.
`Zephyros` a Dehler 34 owned by Jon Kettley also started the season well with a 2nd in class 3 and 7th overall on the first day. `Zephyros` is new to the EAORA scene this year helmed by Scott Kazor who when he’s not studying works part time for Hyde Sails in Hamble. `Zephyros` has just recently taken delivery of a full suit of Hyde Kevlar racing sails. Mainsail, No.1 & No.3 made from DP `Alumashield` with a code 1 Sym Spin and Code 2 Asy to complement the inventory. Another long standing Hyde powered yacht `Inn Spirit` owned by Alan Bartlett - last years EAORA champion - was also in the results on the Sunday with a 3rd in Class 1.
