6-7 October 2007
Almost summer like conditions greeted the competitors for Salcombe’s final Open Meeting of 2007. With 6 visiting boats visitors joining the strong local fleets, competitive racing was ensured.
Local speedster Chris Cleaves (3680) dominated the Solo racing, taking 3 wins but the other two podium places were up for graps until the final moments of race 3 when Peter Hammond (3769) just wrested the spot from David Greening (3789) at the line.
The National Twelve racing wasn’t so dominated with 3 boats taking line honours. Race 1 was won by Jon Ibbotson ably crewed by Katy Meadowcroft sailing N3473, they were looking good for race 2 as well but decided that they need to check the depth of the water off Millbay beach, oops there wasn’t enough! This allowed Keri and Theo Harris to take the win in their ‘new boat’ N3501 which they had only collected on Friday afternoon! The third race was take by Fran Gifford and Sophie Mackley which combined with a second behind Keri in race 2 gave them the overall victory, second overall were Keri and Theo with Jon and Katy third.
