46th Hamble Warming Pan at Hamble River Sailing Club Preview

by Barney Smith / HRSC 2 Mar 2008 12:59 GMT 8-9 March 2008

Hamble River Sailing Club invites the Merlin Rocket, Firefly, National 12 & Foxer classes to the 46th Hamble Warming Pan over the weekend of 8th & 9th March. The racing follows the same format as 2007, two races a day with a break for lunch and river starts & finishes off the HRSC clubhouse with excursions into Southampton Water depending on the weather.

As well as the Fireflys, Merlins and Foxers this year the club is looking forward to welcoming the National 12 class back to the event after many years absence. The 12’s will be sailing on Sunday only at the request of their class association but it’s hoped they will have so much fun they come back for the whole weekend in 2009.

Over 60 boats are expected to take part over the weekend which as always will provide great spectator sport as races are run just feet from the banks of the river. An added bonus for competitors is that entry fees have been kept at the same level for the last three years, just £20 a boat.

Once again HRSC is gearing up to provide competitors to this classic early season event with good racing, plenty of hot food all day and a friendly welcome. On Saturday night as the club will host a bangers and mash evening with happy hour, a quiz and other entertainment, all helped along by some of the cheapest beer in Hamble.

The Notice of race, accommodation hints and other useful information are available on Hamble River Sailing Club website.
