Helly Hansen will be showing off its 2009 collection of summer gear for watersport enthusiasts at the London Boat Show, 9-18 January. Visitors to the show will be able to see the new range on Helly Hansen’s newly-designed stand, N59A.

Watersports involve calculated risks that inspire people to push themselves, free their minds and discover their own abilities. Helly Hansen has taken risks for more than 130 years to discover how far it can push safety, comfort and performance in its apparel designs for sports, survival and outdoor work environments. The brand’s summer 2009 collection proves there are no limitations when it comes to functional design, innovation and style.

Iconic pieces available on the stand will include the Helly Welly (RRP £120) and the Ocean Racing collection – currently being put through the paces by the Ericsson crew in the Volvo Ocean Race. This professional grade kit features an array of technical features to ensure the ultimate in warmth, dryness, comfort and style for offshore sailors.

New garments will be appearing across the entire marine collection and will include apparel for offshore and inshore sailing, base layers, buoyancy aids and a selection of stylish sportswear for everyday use.

New footwear pieces will also be making their debut at the show, and include Helly Hansen’s first ever soft shell sailing shoe, the Hydro North (RRP £90). This lightweight, fashionable shoe has been designed using full stretch, soft shell materials and Helly Tech XP – Helly Hansen’s waterproof and breathable fabric - to keep feet dry, comfortable and protected in wet environments. In addition new models of rubber sailing boots and a selection of canvas deck shoes will be on display.

Innovative new jackets for the everyday sailing enthusiast include the stylish Salt jacket (£150, in red) for men and the feminine Skagen jacket (RRP £200, in blue) for women. These classic-looking jackets are fully waterproof and breathable, and feature fleece collars, hand warmer pockets and double cuffs for comfort and warmth.

No Helly Hansen stand would be complete without a selection of Lifa base layers, and a stylish range of half zip, crew and turtle designs from the HH Warm, Cool and Dry collections will be available on the stand. Made from polypropylene, Helly Hansen base layers transport moisture 40 times more effectively than polyester making them an essential item for any kit bag.

Key pieces from the new summer collection will also be modeled at the exhibition’s fashion show which will be taking place daily on the main stage.
