A steady force two to three with full sunshine greeted the eleven attendees at Scammonden Water Sailing club high in the Pennines. Quite a change from the two previous years when snow has been the order of the day.
Race officer Jeremy Child and his team setting a course utilising the full area of the water and first to the windward mark was 23135 Garrrison / Elliott followed closely by Alan and Matt Johnson in 19876. These positions were reversed on the leeward leg and these positions stayed till the finish.
After a break for lunch with a change of course, it was once again the Johnson pairing who led to the windward mark but his time followed by 23219 Russ Short and Kate Fry. Again the Johnson’s kept the lead and with two outright win victory was assured.
The third race was sailed back to back and now it was a fight for the minor placings. Everyone agreed that a good days sailing had been enjoyed and the change in weather from previous years was most welcome.
