The second weekend for the Saltash Sailing Club Duchy Timber Spring series started with bright skies and 15 knots of southerly breeze. Today's course started with a triangular course in Plymouth Sound before the final leg took the boats up the river Tamar to finish at Saltash.
In the IRC class the start was hard fought with most of the fleet fighting for the committee boat end of the line. This resulted in some boats having to bail out and the X332 Xtorsion8 being called over and having to lap around the start boat. In the end it was Nigel Passmore's J133 that secured both line honours and the corrected time victory. Second place went to the slowest rated boat Colin Leach's Red Fox. Third place went to Dave Oliver's X332 Xtorsion8 who sailed a good final leg using their asymmetric spinnaker to great effect.
Another eventful start In the PY class resulted in both West End Girl and Vindaloo were called over the line. This left Rob Davis on Imarra to finish first both on the water and on corrected time. Dave Moore showed his Superior boat handling to sail Rough Diamond to second position from Jon Wood's Sagitta. The J24 class once again sailed two windward leeward races and it was Stig McDonald who won both races to extend his series lead to three points.
