Introducing the new and improved RYA website

by Louise Nicholls, RYA 19 Jun 2009 15:33 BST 30 June 2009

The RYA launched its new and improved website, www.rya.org.uk, yesterday at a special presentation at its Headquarters. The site will be going live on Tuesday 30 June and will provide boaters with an invaluable and easy to use web resource that they can personalise to suit their own purposes.

Steve Gray, RYA Marketing Manager “The RYA website has always provided a wealth of information and news to boaters but now we have improved and modernised the site to make it a lot easier for people to access that information”.

The new site will have a contemporary style with a number of modern features including the ability to customise the site to your own type of activity whether it is cruising, dinghy sailing or powerboat racing etc. This will allow users to receive the most relevant and up to date information relating to their areas of choice whenever they visit.

Weather and tidal information will also be available on the new site, provided by Wind Finder and the UKHO (UK Hydrographic Office) respectively which users can also customise to their location.

“We knew there were some issues with the current site which we wanted to address but before developing the new site we spent a lot of time listening to what members of the RYA and other users of the site had to say and what they wanted.

“As a result we have improved the sites navigation and search facility and modernised the RYA’s web shop and join/renew facilities as well as improving the overall look and feel of the site which should make for a much more pleasant and productive user experience.” added Steve.

The new RYA website was designed by Hampshire based marketing agency Design Haus.
