New foils for the 3000 Class

Instead of the original steel-rod reinforced, solid plastic foils, new 3000s are now supplied with glass/epoxy/foam foils. This came about because in order to buy a new batch of foils of the old type, 3000 builders Vandercraft would have had to order a minimum of 50 at a time, leading to an unreasonable stock level for a small boat-builder and class.
Principal advantages are that the new foils are more robust, less prone to scratching and - very importantly - don't hum (owing to a finer trailing edge).
The new foils can, of course, be retro-fitted to existing boats. While the daggerboard should just slot straight into older boats' hulls, the rudder blade, which is common to the Phantom class, is a different thickness and does require a new stock, which Vandercraft can also supply.
