Enterprise Open at Hampton Sailing Club

by Derek May 20 Sep 2010 08:23 BST 19 September 2010

A fine sunny day coupled with a brisk Southwesterly wind, ensured that the eighteen Enterprises competing were to enjoy a day of excellent sailing. Amongst the 18 competitors were visitors from Southbank, Castaways, Island Barn, British Airways, Lensbury and London Corinthian sailing clubs.

The first race in which the gusty wind was to prove too much for a couple of boats that capsized was to see Pete Jackson and Julie Bennet from British Airways sailing club take an early lead only to be overtaken mid way through the race by David and John Beaney from Castaways sailing club. This left Phil Chambers and Oliver Jenkins from Hampton Sailing Club to fight it out for third spot with Alistair Stewart from Lensbury Sailing Club crewed by Ian Peerless from Hampton.

By the start of the second race the wind had settled a little and a similar pattern to the first race was to emerge with David and John Beaney coming from third to take the bell with Pete Jackson again in second spot followed home by Phil Chambers and in fourth Alastair Stewart.

The third and final race was to be dominated by the Beaneys who led throughout the race, with second, third and fourth again going respectively to Pete, Phil and Alastair.

Overall Results:

1st David Beaney & John Beaney, 20234 (Castaways Sailing Club)
2nd Pete Jackson & Julie Bennet, 23047 (British Airways Sailing Club)
3rd Phil Chambers & Oliver Jenkins, 23218 (Hampton Sailing Club)
4th Alistair Stewart & Ian Peerless, 23225 (Lensbury Sailing Club)
