To avoid disappointment - please reserve your rig by .
The weekend is likely to be an interesting challenge for the club and sailors. The most exciting part is sailing in the heart of London - something you can't do very often.
For example:
- There will be lot more spectators than usual (lots of pubs and walk paths are located by the river)
- Some 2-3 knots of tide which means a lot more tacking and gybing for the spectators
- There is an island on the river which makes it more interesting and complicates things (back eddies)
- It is the widest part of the river Thames - (south-westerly stretch). The prevailing winds are SW too so we can expect the wind against tide which makes for fun downwind sailing in your Rooster 8.1
- London is a great location for social life, the club can offer basic accommodation on site and they anticipate they can put up sailors in members homes
- With one and a half miles of racing area which bends between Hammersmith and Barnes bridges, challenging and fun courses can be set in most wind conditions
