Ullman Sails of Plymouth line up to support local sailing.
A new directive of the Port of Plymouth Sailing Association which represents sailing clubs within the port is to produce a new race series to reflect the changing trends of local race sailors. Support for the longer cross channel races has been in decline in recent years so it was decided to create a new series with predominantly coastal races. This will replace the old inshore and offshore series known as the PIPS and POPS respectively. The first of seven races is the Falmouth to Fowey leg of the RWYC Triangle on 1st May.
PPSA Race Manager Mark Hanley who has co-ordinated the new series approached previous sponsors, local sailmakers Ullman Sails. Chris Davison their managing director, himself a competitive sailor, said “I am delighted to support the new series as we have the perfect natural venue for sailing in the South West and I love to see as many people taking advantage of it as possible”. He is very keen for Ullman Sails to remain as the title sponsor and is totally committed to promoting sailing within Plymouth.
