Strathclyde Loch’s Christmas Regatta on Sunday 19th December welcomed a record entry of 67 boats. RYA Scottish squads were there in force, in Optimist, Topper and Laser classes, and squad members figured prominently in the prizes.
Light winds and full sunshine greeted the competitors, and the club ran three races for most classes, two for the slower ones before it was time to go ashore as temperatures plunged.
Perfect scores gave Peter Irwin in Toppers and Ian Docwra in Lasers emphatic wins, while Moray Clark took the Optimist class, and Strathclyde’s own Robin Paris topped the Radials. The handicap fleet was contested by a wide mix of classes, and Stuart Gibson & Gavin Berry took the class in their Albacore.
