Following a successful debut at last year’s RYA Volvo Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace, Marconi Sailing Club will be returning once again for the 2012 exhibition. Over the weekend of 3rd and 4th March club members will be taking to the stand to promote the club to new members and to raise the profile of the club’s key event – The East Coast Piers Race.
Situated on the River Blackwater in Essex, Marconi Sailing Club prides itself on access to the river at all states of the tide. Membership operates on a self-help ethos where all members are expected to contribute towards the running of the club, be that manning the rescue boats, helping out at the annual Cadet Week or perhaps even a stint on the bar!
Marconi has a varied balance of cruiser, dinghy, catamaran and windsurf fleets with racing held every Sunday during the club season and every Wednesday evening during the summer months.
Access to the river is provided by a hard structure slipway which means that members can choose when they take to the water and are not bound by tidal restrictions. As a family friendly club Marconi hosts a Cadet Week every summer for members young and old to learn how to sail. Throughout the rest of the year, a friendly face is always on hand if guidance is required.
To celebrate Marconi Sailing Club’s second year at the Dinghy Exhibition visitors to the stand have the opportunity to win a year’s free membership* by entering our competition at stand B14. Even if you are not lucky enough to win Marconi are extending a second offer of no joining fee for any members who sign up over the weekend of the Dinghy Show.
For further information on the club please visit www.marconi-sc.org.uk or come and see us at Stand B14 at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show on the 3rd – 4th March 2012.
* Free membership is offered subject to approval
