Wessex Exempt take the trophy
Wessex Exempt took the Cam Cup at Grafham Water on 3/4 March, with West Kirby close runners-up in a star-studded field. This annual Cambridge University Cruising Club team racing event was dominated by alumni teams who filled the first seven places of the 15-strong entry. University teams took the next three places, in the Silver league, with a grand tie amongst universities and schools in the Bronze league.
Conditions on the Saturday were excellent, with teams getting 8 to 10 races in sunny conditions. The wind proved tricky on the Sunday, and time was lost in several course changes before a front came through to steady the wind on WNW at 20mph – and a cool 4 degrees Centigrade. In spite of these circumstances teams got 3 to 4 races each – quite enough for most in the cold and windy conditions, particularly after the excellent dinner and clubbing session of the night before!
Final detailed results over the week-end were as follows.
