Race 6 of the LTSC Winter Dinghy Series was sailed on the 11th November 2012. 18 boats had signed up, 9 fast fleet & 9 medium fleet. There were no takers from the slow fleet this week. At the scheduled start time of 10.30 there was not too much wind at all so the postponement was inevitable.

Geoff Havers assisted by Jo Barriball were in the hot seat this week and after the last weeks racing being cancelled they were all eager to get going. The sun was shining and the ice was melting from the pontoon. Geoff decided to run the race inshore from the normal race area due to the strength of tide / lack of wind and set up shop using the Club launch 'Fortuna' as the committee boat. After a half hour's postponement the fast fleet was off at 1105 with only 4knots of wind coming from the North.

In the fast fleet Nigel Walbank in his Musto Skiff was first over the line with John Cooper & Becci Wigley second in their RS 400. When the handicaps were applied though Nigel would drop to fourth place behind John & Becci, first, followed by another RS 400 with Leslie Ross & Abby Keightley Hanson second, and third place going to Nick Simmons in his D-1.

The medium fleet started at 1110 with Mark Barwell & Louise Johnson in their Merlin Rocket leading the way from Stewart Watson in his Blaze. Third over the line was Adrian Baker in his Streaker. When the handicaps were applied this time though Adrian found that he had done enough to secure first place by 5 seconds on corrected time from Mark & Louise, with Stuart taking third spot.

Race 6 Results:

Fast Fleet
1st John Cooper & Becci Wigley, RS400
2nd Leslie Ross & Abby Keightley Hanson, RS400
3rd Nick Simmons, D-One

Medium Fleet
1st Adrian Baker, Streaker
2nd Mark Barwell & Louise Johnson, Merlin Rocket
3rd Stuart Watson, Blaze
