Reedling Keelboat's 50th Anniversary Celebrations at Horning Sailing Club

by Holly Hancock 30 Sep 2013 10:15 BST 28 September 2013

On Saturday 28th September a celebratory afternoon was held at Horning Sailing Club to mark the Reedling Class's 50th Anniversary. Owners and club members from 6 yrs to over 70 enjoyed an afternoon's sailing in the bright breezy sunshine, several trying the boat for the first time, followed by a special tea.

Designed by Ian Proctor and built by Reedling Yachts, the first in 1963, the Reedlings are a unique class, of wooden construction, and count amongst some of the fastest keelboats on the Broads. A class local to Broadland, specifically Horning Sailing Club, and with only eleven boats in existence, despite the small size of the fleet the boats have achieved success, winning the Three Rivers Race three times.

For more information on the class please contact current Fleet Captain Robert Hancock on
