Tagged on to the famous Travemunde Woche, complete with live music, tall ships, food and souvenir stalls, festival tents and live coverage of the racing, the regatta promise incredible vibes and an unrivalled atmosphere. Five RS championships will be part of this world-renowned event!
The RS500 Class who will be travelling to Travemunde for their World Championships; the festival atmosphere will be perfect for this race-hard, play-hard fleet.
For the growing RS Aero Class it is their first European Championships. With an impressively International field, 55 entries so far from 11 nations, it's really shaping up to be an exciting week. It is also the RS100s and RS400 European Championships, and the RS200 Gold Cup - all classes have seen tight racing this season, with 90 boats at the recent RS Southern Championships; these fleets will be well worth watching on the LIVE coverage screens during the event.
Several sailors have been lucky enough to win use of a VOLVO to use for the event. Greg Booth will be in a XC90, towing the RS Sailing 6-boat stacker full of 100s and 500s. Pete Barton & Heather Chipperfield will have their 'admin' cars complete with all the goodies for the event, and lucky winners Katie Restall, Chris Stanton and Peter Curtis will be enjoying the ride in their cars!
On Monday 25 July don't miss the International RS Classes Party! Bring your own national drinks, nibbles and fancy national dress – it's going to be a superb start to the week. On the Tuesday and Wednesday nights there is going to be River Sprint Racing, get your teams together, 2 per nation, and come down for some racing fun! And Thursday night we are on Passat, the beautiful tall ship from where the organisers launch the nightly laser show.
There is an SAP Media Course at the event, on which each class will spend one day. So spectators can follow, and competitors can re-live the race action via the tracking screens and enjoy the video footage.
So, Travemunde is really looking like the event of 2016. With tremendous sailing to look forward too as well as the phenomenal social scene, we are sure there will be a few after sailing beers and dinners had at one of the various food stalls dotted around the event. We really can't wait and we hope your looking forward to it too.
See you there!
