WOW!!! Today is the 1st September, which means Bart's Bash is just around the corner. We're kicking off this special month with some messages from an inspirational bunch of sailors, who have just returned victorious from Rio.

AND.... We also have a message from our wonderful Trustee, Sir Ben Ainslie as he heads off to Toulon, France for the penultimate event in this year's America's Cup World Series programme.
“We as a Foundation are delighted to see Bart’s Bash continue to grow as an event, and we’re all looking forward to getting on the water on 17/18 September to have some fun in Bart’s name.
This year we’d like to encourage the whole sailing community to come together on this one weekend, to not only remember Bart but contribute to the Foundation in his name. The funds obtained during this year’s event will help raise awareness for disabled sailing around the world and help give others the opportunity to enjoy the sport that both Bart loved. Sign up today at WWW.BARTSBASH.COM and help us make a difference".

If that's not enough to help inspire you to take part, read on to find out how this year's funds will be distributed.

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (ASSF) continues to encourage more people to get on the water and promote the benefits it brings people of all abilities.
In 2015, The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation supported the the All-aboard Sailing Project which is run by Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth, in partnership with Wheels on Water (WOW) sailing club and Woodlands Special School.
The Foundation supported project provides opportunities for young people from Plymouth with moderate to severe physical disabilities to sail regularly and to promote their health and wellbeing. So far 158 young people with disabilities have accessed sailing through this project.
It is projects like this the Foundation will be looking to support in 2016/17 with the next round of grants. Which will be announced soon!!!

How YOU can help!!!
This year Bart's Bash is raising awareness and funds to support disabled sailing globally.
With the decision being made to remove sailing from the Paralympics at Tokyo 2020, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation wants to continue to promote the sport and all the benefits it brings to people of all abilities.
There are many ways in which you can help raise funds in 2016 including:
1. Making a donation on the day
2. Setting up a JustGiving page
3. Organising a bake sale (the Great British Bart Bakeoff is now in its 3rd year at Stokes Bay Sailing Club)
4. Ordering official Bart's Bash merchandise with all profits going to the ASSF
5. Organising a raffle / auction and engage with local companies for support.
