Enterprise Midland Double Chine Series Round 8 at Emberton Park Sailing Club

by Serena Stewardson 15 Oct 2016 07:50 BST 9 October 2016

In beautiful autumn sunshine and wind, six sets of blue sails launched for the 2016 Enterprise Open Meeting held on Sunday 9th October.

Following a clean start and lots of tacking up a shifty beat, Mike Cossey put pressure on Luke Fisher with Fisher just reaching the windward mark first. Jack Bryant (junior boat) changed places several times with Cossey up the final beat. Cossey just trailed Fisher and finished a close second. With crew Daniel in the Bryant boat missing the toe straps just before the line, Bryant had to pick him up before finishing.

In the second race Cossey starting on the pin end of the line infringed and was forced to do circles which left Fisher to reach windward mark followed by Bryant. Throughout the race Fisher just led leaving Cossey and Bryant to fight out second place. At the last mark Cossey just edged ahead of the juniors to finish second.

In the third race Bryant made the best start but with a favourable wind shift Cossey and crew Nicki Fisher rounded the windward mark first and held the place right through to the finish line closely followed by Fisher crewed by Serena Stewardson with Graham and Emma Yates taking third.

Overall it was a very enjoyable day in sunshine and wind with a fantastic full Sunday roast prepared by Jean.

Overall Results: (top 3)

1st Luke Fisher & Serena Stewardson
2nd Mike Cossy & Nicki Fisher
3rd Jack Bryant & Daniel Fisher
