2017 Nautor's Swan Racing Calendar

by Nautor's Swan Presss Office 16 Nov 2016 07:04 GMT 16 November 2016

For several years now ClubSwan gathers all Swan Owners together and develops social events, races, qualified services and outstanding opportunities for their enjoyment, at the same time providing lovely occasions for meetings and exchanges amongst Members. In all a great community of enthusiastic and passionate Owners so it is no surprise that more than 350 Swan Yachts took part in Swan events all around the world in 2016.

Nautor's Swan 2017 Racing Calendar is expected to be an extraordinarily rich and exciting one with the iconic Swan Regattas, the 'One Design' program and other international events where Swan Owners have the opportunity to win the ClubSwan Awards and the Swan Challenge Trophies.

March will see the ROLEX SWAN CUP CARIBBEAN, to be held at Virgin Gorda under the organization of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. Races will be held under ORC rules.

In July the SWAN EUROPEAN REGATTA will take place, when the participating Swan fleet will be racing in the tricky and challenging waters of the Solent. This event is based in Cowes and will be organized by the Royal Yacht Squadron.

Races will be managed under IRC rules.

Another stunning rendezvous, will be THE NATIONS TROPHY, organized by the Real Club Nautico de Palma during the second week of October. With the ClubSwan 50 in the leading role, the event will also attract other Swan yachts, with an innovative format. More details on the format of this brand new event will follow.

A great part of Nautor's Swan racing calendar is related to One Design racing where in 2017 will feature the following racing events: PALMAVELA, GIRAGLIA ROLEX CUP, COPA DEL REY, LES VOILES DE SAINT TROPEZ. In addition, the Swan 45 class will sail their own World Championship.

2017 will see the 5th Edition of the Rolex NYYC Invitational Cup, a special event, sailed with ClubSwan 42, where the most recognized Yacht Clubs of the world will be invited.

"The Yacht Clubs are invited specifically by the NYYC and we had Yacht Clubs from all over the world (Japan, Hong Kong, Argentina, France, Uk, etc) and this makes the competition really unique." Enrico Chieffi, Nautor's Swan Vice President, says "Just imagine that all the boats receive identical sails, identical set-ups, let's say that the boats are provided by the organization to the participants so that all the Yacht Clubs compete really in a perfect One Design environment.".

Another highlight of Nautor's Swan Racing Calendar are the special prizes awarded to best-placed Swans in iconic events all over the world, in order to recognize Nautor's Swan durability, strength and solidity, special awards are being given to best-placed Swans in famous off-shore races, where reliability and seaworthiness are prominent features: the Nautor's Swan Challenge Trophies and the ClubSwan Awards.

Five Challenge Trophies, unique pieces of workmanship made exclusively for Nautor's Swan by the skilled craftsmen of Asprey, will be awarded during certain regattas listed in the calendar [PDF].

Many other events around the world will be also monitored and the best-placed Swan will receive the 'ClubSwan Award'.
