by Dulcie Allen, Navico 4 May 2018 10:38 BST

B&G®, the world's leading sailing navigation and instrument specialist, have announced their sponsorship of the legendary trimaran ORMA 60 ex Fleury Michon by Bruno Cardile. The 60-foot vessel, has a long history of various tours of the world and the Ad Maiora team are looking to revitalizing this legendary boat with B&G.

As official supplier, B&G will equip the Orma 60 with a suite of sailing instruments and navigation electronics to replace all current equipment onboard. The boat will be fitted with two Zeus" 7" chartplotters, offering the latest SolarMAX HD screen technology, along with B&G's award winning 4G broadband radar along and the latest AIS positioning system NAIS-500, which will allow the team to stay "tuned in" when approaching hazards and other on-the-water traffic. The boat will also feature a full H5000 instrument and autopilot system delivering sailing-specific features and powerful race-proven technology.

The refit is already underway with Marco Renzi and his company Paine, located at NYS shipyards in Pisa conducting the installation, testing and tuning of the equipment on board. Talking about the refit skipper Bruno Cardile said, "we are really happy to be working with B&G on this exciting project - we can now compete safe in the knowledge that we have the best sailing navigation systems and instruments in the world on board! It is great to see that our project appeals to the world leader in sailing marine electronics, B&G. This encourages us to work even harder, with more motivation and determination".

Debora Bassi, marketing manager of Navico Italia confirmed the partnership this week.

"We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration, as we really believe in the project. The ORMA 60 class is an important vessel, which has a fascinating history. We believe that the selection of B&G marine electronics on board will allow the crew of Ad Maiora to face their racing challenges with a competitive edge".
