405 Open at Rutland Sailing Club

by Lucy Hoyte 19 Mar 2006 12:32 GMT 11-12 March 2006

Saturday morning saw Kathryn Twemlow & Eric Else fighting first place with Dan Evans and Stuart Selly and Rob Thomas & Lucy Hoyte battling 3rd place with James Briggs & James Andrews with Holly Walker & Charles close on their tail. Minor snow storms coming through meant gusty periods and light periods with ever changing kite runs.

Sunday showed poor winds to start with but it got more windy through the day. The constant battle with Stu & Dan and Kathryn & Erik for 1st place showed Stu & Dan winning race one and Kathryn and Erik, races two and three. The Banbury boats still fighting tooth and nail for third was narrow but Rob & Lucy pulled though in races 2 and 3. The gusty winds also saw some interesting capsizes and wet sailors at the end of the day.

Overall Kathryn & Erik won the event and Lucy and Rob came first Transitional Squad boat. Well done to everyone who entered and thanks to the race committee for a great weekend!
