The final two races of Helensburgh Sailing Club's winter series were held in very light a fickle winds.

Both races followed a similar pattern with those who were best able to read the variable conditions making huge gains over the relatively short courses. Race 7 went to Mervyn Wright's Blaze with the Laser 4000 of S & A Thompson in second. Race 8 was won in convinceing style by Tim Flatman and Charles Milton in their 505, the Thompsons were again second winning a very close race with Andrew Homer and Neil Manderson.

With the majority of the 17 strong entry completeing all 8 planned races the overall positions were decided on discards. Mervyn Wright's consistent sailing paid off and he took a well deserved win in his Blaze from the Thompson's Laser 4000. The series was a great success and a simlar one is planned for next winter.
