Excessively strong winds with some exceptionally rare rainfall set the scene for the Enterprise fleet arrival at Exe Sailing Club for the 2018 Allen Sailing, North Sails and Gul UK National Championships.
But the sun came out as the 36 strong fleet got set up with boats rigged, tuned and scrutineered and then firmly tied down to trailers in the dinghy park.
Exe Sailing Club gave the fleet a true Devonian welcome with the Town Cryer and Exe Mayor joining Exe SC Commodore Ted Draper and Enterprise Association Commodore Richard Pryke and all the fleet with a traditional Devon cream tea.
With gale force winds forecast for Sunday, the fleet will be briefed by Principal Race Officer Tim Graham at 10.30am and the decision about suitability for racing will be announced then.
