On Thursday, 13 December at 12:00pm, the Royal Yachting Association will be holding a webinar on Part 2 of the Code of Practice for Intended Pleasure Vessels in Temporary Commercial Use at Sea, looking at the details of the Code and how to comply.
The new IPV Code has been drafted by the MCA, in close consultation with British Marine, the RYA and YDSA and is due to come into effect in January 2019.
The need for Part 2 of the Code was identified because vessels used to support racing activities occasionally operate outside of the legal definition of a Pleasure Vessel meaning they are in commercial use.
Part 2 of the Code has been developed specifically for Race Support Boats to ensure they can continue supporting Racing Events legally where the vessel is not explicitly being used for the owners sport or pleasure.
Under UK law, any time a vessel is used for anything other than the sport or pleasure of the owner or their immediate family and friends, the vessel is considered to be in commercial use.
Please register for The IPV Code Part 2 - Race Support Boats on 13 December 2018 (12:00pm GMT) here.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
