Mustangs at Fleetwood every Tuesday

Tuesdays are back on for the Mustangs over at Fleetwood. The typical programme is two hours of sailing from 2pm until 4pm to include usually 5 races. I was able to go, as the Schools are on holiday for a couple of weeks over the Easter break and we were treated to an easterly.

The same course is sailed every time, which is an 'M' course of 2 laps and a half there and back to finish. So there's no worry in forgetting the route as, this system as been sailed for years and not likely to be changing. If the start calls for a run, then a run it is.

Rules are pretty basic if there are any, so maybe an ideal introduction for you to have a go. Sometimes someone might let you have a go if you don't have a boat, but don't hold your breath as some are quite into their weekly fix of sailing and not likely to hand over the controls.

Maybe drop the misses off at Freeport and come along for a look for an hour, tell her you are feeding the ducks.

Last Tuesday was fun and although quite windy, it was a great challenge in keeping the boat under control with the 'B' rig, although the smallest sail would have been fine.

This next week is also the start for the popular Dragon Flight 95. These are sailed in the evening until dusk. The start time is around 6pm. and this continues until the end of August while we have light in the evenings. For the Dragon enthusiasts, rumour is the DF95 Europeans are being held over in Italy at Lake Garda and should be visible live on Youtube this very weekend.

Easter Saturday and we are having a one off experience day. For anyone interested in having a go with either a Laser or a Mustang, there will be spare boats so come along. Maybe you have a Laser and not a Mustang or vice versa and just fancy a go. Sometimes the normal race days of Tuesday or Sunday's isn't available to you, but you might be able to manage this one off Saturday (20th April). If not, don't worry we plan to have another on August Bank holiday Monday (26th August).

Come along for a peek.
