The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) has today announced the appointment of Victoria Herrick as its new Director of Strategy.

Earlier in the year the RYA announced that it would be recruiting for a new position of Director of Strategy, with the purpose of the role to provide ownership of its Strategic Plan and ensuring all the information, tools and techniques are in place to deliver against its mission and aims.

For the past 13 years, Victoria has held a number of Strategy Director positions, increasingly building upon her wealth of experience in strategy development and implementation, stakeholder engagement, digital landscaping and data analysis.

Her current role with Havas Helia (a customer engagement agency based in London) involves working with a wide range of clients across both private and public sectors to deliver data driven customer and member engagement strategies and transform their digital capabilities.

Victoria is a keen sailor and her interest was originally ignited by an RYA Competent Crew training course in the 1990s. This interest rapidly escalated into a passion for racing and you will normally find her out on the Solent in the summer months on a J122E.

Commenting on the appointment, RYA Chief Executive Sarah Treseder said: "I'm delighted to welcome Victoria to the RYA. I'm confident that we will grow further in the coming years, as we strive to make RYA membership even more relevant to boaters and new generations of members with dramatically different needs, wants, behaviours, values, expectations and ways of communicating. The appointment of such an experienced Director of Strategy, who shares our passion for boating, will help to ensure that we meet those diverse and changing needs."

Victoria added: "It's great to be joining a team that has such a clear sense of direction and purpose. I'm really looking forward to working across the organisation to drive the strategy forward. One of my main focus areas will be how we build the RYA's digital capability, and how we deliver the right blend of online and offline engagement that works for all members and stakeholders."

Victoria is set to join the RYA at its Hamble-based Headquarters on Tuesday, 7 May 2019.
