The Summer Term is usually when all school sailors are looking forward to the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association (BSDRA) regional and national team racing events which run throughout May and June. However in the current climate, with schools switching to remote learning, it looks increasingly unlikely that any of these events will be possible.

As with many other sailing organisations it seems, we have discovered the virtual world of sailing. Using the Virtual Regatta Inshore game, the BSDRA will be running its first (and hopefully last!) BSDRA eSailing Team Racing Championships, supported by KSail.

The uptake has been fantastic with entries from 32 teams representing 17 different schools. Competitors will race in two divisions, as they would in the 'real thing', U17 and U19. The chosen format is 2v2 team racing in Stars. The competition will last throughout May and June with schools competing in one scheduled match each week. At least in the virtual world we can guarantee there will be wind to get through the programme!

Results can be found on the KSail Facebook page and winners will be announced at the end of June with prizes kindly donated by KSail, and subsequently awarded by BSDRA. Good luck to all those taking part!
