HSC welcomed the Tasar and Contender classes to the Club for traveller events amongst the other classes and infact also the Scottish Contender Championships. After a spate of frankly shocking weather the gods smiled again on the event. A steady north westerly provided the driving force on Saturday and a sunny South westerly on Sunday.
Racing in all classes was tight , though winners of 4 of the 6 classes counted perfect score sheets: Neil Wilson HLSC showed his immaculate form to win the Scottish Contender Champs again,Colin Tait and Son Calum Tait LESC continued their winning form in the Tasars , Simon Pender RNCYC and crew in the Sonars and Crawford Reid crewed by Isabelle Martin SLSC sailing an Albacore in the general handicap class.
In the assymetric class things were not so clear cut with Connar and Johnny McGaughy in their 49er dominating and winning but not with out the locals Craig Hepplewhite and Colin "Birthday boy" Greer 49er taking a couple of firsts and second overall. third and first of the persuing 4000 pack were bros Neil and Alistair Manderson who enjoyed close racing with the other 4000's.
With Neil wilson taking all honours in the Contenders the battle for 2nd was won by Martin Metcalfe with a full house of seconds. Merv Wright was third .
Again with Pender and Co out of the way as clear winners of the sonars, second and third were fought out by Manuel/Bourke and John Patience finishing in that order overall and only 1 point apart.
The Tasar class put on the greatest display of place changing and battling it out around the course despite the Taits Colin and Calum running away with victory the fight for second was intense , with Graham and Kit Donaldson scraping ahead of locals Graham Busby and Duncan Bond
Ally Milton and father Charles sailed consitantly to second in their 505 in the Gen handicap fleet with Stuart Mc Carney doggedly holding onto to third.
Alan Mc Intosh was rewarded for his determination in his Topper finishing 5 of the six races to win.
Tim Tindall dissapointed at having no competition from his fellow Sonata sailors sailed around uncontested for the weekend , but still enjoyed the conditions.
