For the young sailors hoping to represent Great Britain at the Techno 293 Windsurfing World Championships at Lake Garda, Italy, in October, lockdown has prevented much-needed time on the water. Planned official training and other competitions have been cancelled, including the European Championships in Marseille.
The recent easing of restrictions has not yet changed this frustrating situation, so a group of committed junior sailors have used their initiative to arrange some training between themselves. Some of the top British competitors, including Boris Shaw, Duncan Monaghan, Lucy Kenyon, Clay Yelland and Darcey Shaw, spent a long weekend training in Poole and Weymouth. Their motivation and determination to compete despite a difficult start to the year is admirable. We wish them the best of luck!
