The international sailing-elite has set the direction towards Struer, where the starting signal to H-Boat World Championships sounds on August 9th, 2021.
A major number of teams from Sweden, Finland and Denmark have already announced their entry and that makes Struer Municipality turn up the preparations for the event.
The mayor of Struer, Niels Viggo Lynghøj, promises the many sailors a unique experience when they put their boats into the water in Struer.
"A sporting event of this calibre suits not only Struer but all of Denmark. We have proud yachting traditions in this country, and we offer ideal conditions to the racing sailors here at the Limfjord," states Niels Viggo Lynghøj.
Besides the great conditions on the water, the harbour and the facilities for the sailors are optimised, so the best service can be given to the many top trimmed teams and their boats. The same thing is done to the facilities to the large audience expected to watch the H-Boat World Championship.
"It will be possible to watch the sailings from land, where we have areas really close to the racing courses. The audience will likewise have the opportunity to watch the races on the waters from the old Venø-ferry, which will act as a floating stand during the WC," says Niels Viggo Lynghøj.
Struer Sejlklub is the main organiser of the WC-event but Struer Municipality has, as a co-organiser, several employees involved both before and after the regatta.
"In the same week the World Championships takes place, Struer will be the starting town of the stage-cycling race 'Post Danmark Rundt'. This means a lot of attention for the municipality and the sporting events which will take place. We look forward to this," Niels Viggo Lynghøj ends.
The cooperation with the municipality is important to Struer Sejlklub, as this secures a successful arrangement of the major event.
"It is a handful to a relatively small club like ours. That is why we are delighted with the help and support we get from our co-organisers and sponsors. We, ourselves, are in high gears regarding the preparations so we are ready when the nearly 200 sailors from around the world arrive in Struer in August," says the head of the regatta, Otto G. Jensen.
