6-7 November 2021
For the second year the RS Japan Open was hosted by the Japan RS Class Association as RS Classes continue to build in popularity in Japan. Racing was held on the 6/7th November at the Hayama Sailing College on the Mori coast near Tokyo.
Again it was a record turnout of RS Classes racing together in Japan and a good build on last year's inaugural event. A total of 39 RS boats entered including 18 RS Aeros, 7 RS Fevas, 4 RS Teras, 3 RS Zests, 2 RS Qubas, 2 RS Vareos, a RS500 and an RS700. To join the Hayama sailors visitors traveled from Zaimokuza, Kamakura and Shimizu. The sea gave a swell from the northeast to the north, and the wind went up from the average 5m/s to 10m/s for a fun and exciting regatta.
With scoring using corrected time ratings in the mixed RS fleet the RS Aero 5 of Yudai Okano took 1st place with a 2,1,1,1 score line from the RS Aero 7 of Hirotaka Kanera in 2nd and the RS500 of Shinichi Washiyama / Noriko Kakuta in 3rd.
