Mornington Yacht Club held its annual Schnapper Point Regatta on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February, sponsored by Mornington-based Town Planning Co, and supported by Ronstan.

The regatta has been run over the last 25 years, providing some serious race experience for young sailors leading up to their state championships. Adults joined in to take advantage of the high standards and a Junior event was also run to help build race experience for young sailors. Some 84 yachts entered with competitors coming from Geelong, Cairn Curran, Indented Head and Gippsland, joining in with the local fleet.

Conditions over the two days were challenging for many, with winds in excess of 20 knots. The MYC Race Team made the most of the conditions getting races under way when possible, however, the more junior kids just starting out had only limited opportunity on the water, enjoying on-shore activities throughout the rest of the weekend.

Full results for the Schnapper Point Regatta can be found on the MYC website.
