Tasar National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 2

by Rick Perkins 8 Jul 2023 18:16 BST 7-9 July 2023

Day 2 dawned with light SW winds and greys skies.

The fleet launched on time and made their way out to the start line where the race officer was endeavouring to set a square course in the unstable winds. Some heavy rain passed through causing further instability in the breeze but soon after the race got under way.

Again the fleet was very close but in a nip and tuck slow boat race eventually it was Jeremy and Suzanne Hawkins who took the win from Steve Cockerill and Graham Williamson with Paul and Bronwyn Ridgway in third.

The second race got away in light breeze and after a significant shift during the first beat was abandoned.

The restart saw slight more stable conditions and was won by Paul and Bronwyn from Jeremy and Suzanne with David and Fiona Sayce in third.

The fifth race and final one of the day was soon under way in slightly more breeze. This was clearly to the liking of local sailors Malcolm Davies and Alan Goule who took the win from Rick and Sarah Perkins in second and David and Fiona in third.

This leave Steve and Graham in first place overall 2 points ahead of Jeremy and Suzanne with Paul and Bronwyn and David and Fiona tied in third.

All to play for tomorrow. But first it's curry night.
