The halftonner fleet is to gather again at Nieuwpoort (BEL) from 5 to 9 AUG for the 14th Half Ton Classics Cup, hosted by the KYCN (Koninklijke Yacht Club Nieuwpoort).

The publication of the Notice of Race officially opened the registration period. After the success of the 2023 edition in Hankø /Norway, which brought together 33 halftonners of all kinds, the organisers are looking forward to welcome a same number of entrants again. Many teams from Belgium, Ireland, Norway, the UK and France have already shown their unconditional interest.

All interested teams are invited to enter via manage2sail.com/en-BE/event/04e1e40a-fce9-4cca-ad44-6bc3563e92a8#!

Since the first edition in 2023 the event embraced the IRC rating rule and will continue to do so, albeit all entered boats are now requested to have an endorsed certificate.

Although the event's main trophy -the iconic Half Ton Classics Cup- is highly coveted, the main prize of the event is the 1/2 Ton True Spirit Trophy which can be won only by the team that most adheres to the undefinable 'half ton spirit'... This trophy is commonly awarded after a popular vote amongst all participants.

There will also be rankings & prizes for the 'vintage' halftonners, for the best 'all female' team, and undoubtedly many more. There will be no 'Ryde Sands Trophy' this time, but the local sandbanks and strong tidal currents are preparing a few surprises we've been told...
