Marine technology company savvy navvy has appointed US-based Alisdair Martin, as its new Board Advisor as the boating navigation app continues to scale up its growth.

The award-winning navigation app, often referred to as 'Google maps for boats', continues to scale up dramatically, with Alisdair joining as a strategic advisor to savvy navvy's Executive Board.

Alisdair, originally from the UK, is well-respected as one of the leading authorities in shaping business strategy to serve the needs of modern consumers in the marine industry. He brings over two decades of expertise in strategic planning and hands-on execution. This includes working with British Marine on leading marine events. Since his move to Chicago in 2010, Alisdair's roles have been instrumental to advancing marine technology and services, such as being Vice President of Strategy and Sales at the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).

"With a track record of driving marketing strategies and leading business development, Alisdair's experience aligns perfectly with savvy navvy's ambitious growth plans. Continuing to innovate boating navigation, making it simpler and safer for anyone to get onto the water, Alisdair's experience of scaling global businesses will be invaluable to our team. We're super excited to have him on board," says Jelte Liebrand, CEO and Founder of savvy navvy.

Today Alisdair runs his own exclusive consultancy working with partners that drive the marine industry forward, alongside several key industry board positions.

"The marine industry is notoriously slow to innovate. If we hope to grow boating, it is critical that we bring the experience in line with consumer expectations that participants see in competitive industries. This requires us to make boating easier and more accessible, especially for newer boaters. Savvy navvy's innovative solution is actively shaping the marine industry for the better, challenging the bigger navigation apps in the market. With a great team and immense potential for scaling, now is the perfect time to offer my strategic advice to enhance global industry partnerships and users even further," says Alisdair Martin.

savvy navvy has surpassed 1,600,000 downloads across the globe. Offering clutter-free charts and smart routing - the savvy navvy app solves vital navigation issues for boaters, kayakers, paddleboarders and jet-skiers. It gives users the best route based on the departure time, chart, weather, tide, boat data and local regulations. Points of interest, including marina information, marine services and local businesses are also shown in the app helping users plan their stays.
