The Newport International Boat Show announced today the results of this year's Newport For New Products Awards. Judged during the Show's opening day and announced at a ceremony on September 13 the winners were selected by a team of industry experts based on innovation, value to the consumer, safety and aesthetics.
Electrification of the industry continues. Vessev, a global leader in sustainable marine technology, has showcased its VS-9 electric hydrofoil, complete with cabin and interior, for the first time as it enters the final phase of sea trials ahead of commercial certification. Revolutionary electric hydrofoiling vessel unveiled, complete with cabin and interior for the first time.
Also, Yanmar Marine International has launched the E-Saildrive, its first electric propulsion product designed to provide an easy transition to emission-free sailing. Launched globally at Cannes Yachting Festival and Newport International Boat Show, the E-Saildrive range utilizes a 'plug and play' platform for easy installation and connection. This, combined with an integrated gear, motor, motor controller, and cooling system, makes the switch to 100% electric boating quicker and easier.
This week, Freedom Boat Club, the world's largest boat club operator and a Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) brand, announced its acquisition of the South Florida franchise operations and territory. Through this acquisition, Freedom Boat Club adds thirteen corporate locations from Pompano Beach to Stuart, Florida, with the rights to expand throughout the Southeast Florida coastline.
RMI Holdings, the parent company of Regal Boats, proudly announces that it has signed a contract to acquire a 38-acre, 170,000-square-foot waterfront boat manufacturing facility in Merritt Island, Florida. Located just 44 miles from its Orlando headquarters, this strategic acquisition positions RMI Holdings for significant long-term growth and operational expansion.
For sailing enthusiasts, the new Beneteau First 30 arrives. Few things can beat the rush one gets when a sailboat starts planing - that exhilarating moment of 'lift off' when the boat breaks free from the chains of displacement speed. Continuing with sailing news, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association is proud to announce an exciting new initiative aimed at engaging local youth and introducing them to the various employment opportunities available right on their doorstep in the yacht charter industry. In partnership with the French Embassy to the Eastern Caribbean States, Barbados and the OECS and Blue Life Yacht Charters, this programme offers hands-on training and work experience in a growing and lucrative industry.
Further North, Sail Canada announced today that Mike Milner will be moving on from the organization. Serving as High Performance Director for six and a half years, Mike Milner was a significant contributor to the successes of the Canadian Sailing Team and his leadership supported the growth of Sail Canada's Development Squad, the development of the Sail Canada Identified Athlete Program and investments in coach development.
