To celebrate the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, a series of unique cultural events will enrich this legendary adventure and fascinate young and old alike through art, music, film, the small screen, games and literature.

The Vendée Globe at the museum

Solo around the world' exhibition at the Musée de la Marine, Paris-Trocadéro.
The Musée National de la Marine is celebrating the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe by offering an immersive insight into the history of monohull races around the world. Thanks to an exceptional collection of 300 items - sailing artefacts, models, outfits, works of art and archive images - this exhibition retraces the achievements of the pioneers and today's sailors, with their emotional stories that make the Vendée Globe an unrivalled human adventure. The exhibition opens its doors to the general public on 16 October. To mark the occasion, a contest will be organised on the Vendée Globe Facebook page, with 50 tickets to be won. A preview visit is reserved for the media on 10 October at 2pm.

Titouan Lamazou exhibition at MASC, Les Sables d'Olonne

The first winner of the Vendée Globe, artist-sailor Titouan Lamazou, is unveiling his works at the Musée de l'Abbaye Sainte-Croix (MASC). His paintings and drawings, inspired by his travels, explore the beauty and fragility of our globe. Through his starry skies and logbooks, the artist's works resonate with the sailors of the Vendée Globe. The exhibition opens on 20 October.

The Vendée Globe on TV screens

'Seul', a TV film based on Yves Parlier's book "Robinson des mers", will be broadcast on France Television. Samuel Le Bihan plays the navigator in this thrilling adventure of survival on the high seas.

On 7 September 2024, Le Vent des Sables, a 1.5-hour crime drama directed by Stéphane Kappes and filmed in Les Sables d'Olonne, highlighted the Vendée Globe on France 3. It is available on replay until 14 March 2025.

A docu-series will plunge viewers into the fascinating stories of the Vendée Globe skippers and the organisation of the event. Filming is under way and will continue with footage of the skippers in the race. It is scheduled for release on France Television in 2026.

The Vendée Globe at the movies

On 13 November 2024, Pathé will launch a moving comedy starring Jean-Paul Rouve and Pierre Richard and directed by Xavier Beauvois. The film tells the story of a man whose attempt to reconnect with himself and his family takes part in the virtual version of the Vendée Globe, the Virtual Regatta game, recreating the conditions of a skipper in his own backyard. A preview is scheduled at the Multiplexe Le Grand Palace in Les Sables d'Olonne, with the film team in attendance, on 24 October.

The Vendée Globe will be celebrating the launch of the film Vaiana 2 on 27 November at the cinema, in its race village. Exceptional events on 2 and 3 November will enable visitors to discover the world of the film and the values shared by Vaiana and the Vendée Globe skippers.
