The Royal Perth Yacht Club is proud to announce the return of the prestigious Fremantle to Albany Yacht Race in April 2026, a premier offshore sailing event proudly sponsored by Great Southern Lime, in celebration of the City of Albany's Bicentenary.

This iconic race will bring together sailors from across the nation and beyond, covering over 300 nautical miles along Western Australia's spectacular south coast. The event will not only showcase elite sailing talent but also highlight the strong maritime history and community spirit of the Great Southern region.

The 2026 race is made possible through the valued support of the Princess Royal Sailing Club of Albany and the Denmark Sailing Club, who will work in close collaboration with Royal Perth Yacht Club to host and celebrate this milestone event.

"We are thrilled to bring this race back to the calendar," said Dr Janet Hornbuckle, Commodore of Royal Perth Yacht Club. "With the generous sponsorship of Great Southern Lime and the support of our fellow clubs in Albany and Denmark, we look forward to an event that honours tradition, embraces community, and celebrates Albany's remarkable 200-year journey."

In addition to competitive racing, the event will feature community festivities, welcome celebrations, and an official Bicentenary Regatta in Albany, ensuring all participants and visitors are part of this historic celebration.

A $10,000 prize will be on offer to any yacht that can beat the long-standing race record set in 1996 by Ken Court in his yacht Second Term.

Entries for the 2026 Fremantle to Albany Yacht Race will open later this year, with full race information, safety requirements, and event schedules to be released via the Royal Perth Yacht Club website.
