405 Danish Championship at Skive Sailing Club

by William Twemlow 17 Sep 2003 07:47 BST

12 British 405 crews joined 13 from Denmark for the 405 Championship of Denmark at Skive Sailing Club over the weekend 6th and 7th September.

Saturday dawned a bright and windy day with a steady force four out on the racecourse.

The British boats made their mark from the beginning. In race one Dylan Fletcher and Nick Hollis from Northampton won the race by a significant margin followed by Rosie White and Tom Peel (Burghfield).

Rosie won both the second and third races with Dylan and Maja sharing a second and third place each.

Sunday was again bright and sunny but the wind strength was significantly lower, helping the lighter crews in the marginal planing conditions.

Race 4 was won by Dylan Fletcher followed by Simon Toft Nielsen and light whether experts Will Twemlow and Andy Bath from Nott’s County.

Huw and Max pulled out a long lead in Race 5 but were eventually overhauled by Dylan on the last run.

Race 6 was again Dylan and Nick’s race with Simon Toft Nielsen showing consistency to finish second.

Congratulations were due to Dylan Fletcher and Nick Hollis who rounded off a fantastic last season in the 405 by winning both the UK National Championship and the Danish Championship. They will be a team to look out for in the 29er next year.
