BOSS Multi Gala at Brightlingsea Sailing Club

by Boss Website 23 May 2000 09:26 BST

New faces due to the new demand for the Boss meet for the second round of the Gala series. New team, Pirate FM (Mr Chairman) Tim Cunliffe/Vicki Watling led the fleet to the windward mark. Places changed on the downwind leg, but East Coast crew Stitch Print Connelly/Green won the first race. Connelly again won the second race after a close taking dual with Team Pirate FM. The wind picked up for the final race of the day, which suited Reynolds/Sledge to give them the gun and an early shower. A day where consistency and boat handling gave Reynolds/Sledge the overnight lead, with Pirate FM in second.

Day two produced the closes racing of the fleets, with three new race winners. Team Pirate, Cunliffe/Watling took line honours after a very close race with Reynolds/Harris, and Baza/Allen. The second race went to Steve Bell/Okenden after well-executed start, and the fleet left chasing. The final race of the day went to Baza/Allen, having found the go button on their new boat. Team Pirate FM, chased all the way, again a very close race amongst the fleets. The final outcome going to Team Pirate Cunliffe/Watling, having sailed the most consistent series. An encouraging sign for the Nationals only one month away.
