East Coast Sailing Week with BP - Day 1
by Fiona Brown 19 Jul 2004 21:44 BST
Port Edgar sailor Ken Kelly mastered difficult 25-knot conditions on Absolutely 2 to win Class One at the start of East Coast Sailing Week which continues until Friday off Granton, Edinburgh.
John Murphy, also from Port Edgar, who was second in the recent Banff to Stavanger event, was second.
The popular event is held on rotation between the Tay, Forth and off the Northumberland coast.
This year around 60 have enterted and, in the first race, the wind was so strong that the leeward buoy broke free during the competition and the race was judged on the first circuit.
