SAILX British Tacticat Nationals - Autumn 2008

by Amando Estela, SAILX admin 16 Oct 2008 11:46 BST 23 October 2008

SAILX (formerly called Tacticat) is a sailing simulator you use over the Internet, to race against others, providing an excellent way to learn about the rules and tactics. It is not a game (though it can be treated like one if you wish) since the graphics are functional and sparse, and the objective is educational. It is free to use.

The SAILX Autumn 2008 National Championships are open to all registered users with the right flag in the boat (select 'UK' when you sign up, or edit your profile). Details of prizes will be revealed nearer the time. You can enter on the day.

There are 13 countries hosting championships next week - see the full list. The GBR champs are on Thursday 23rd October at 8pm (local time).

Format of Race

At the designated time, unless aggreed by present sailors. If less than 18 boats appear event will be run in one single fleet: 8 races (2 per boat type: laser, cat, skiff and keel), 2 discards. Or, if 18 or more boats appear a classificatory regatta will be run in 2 fleets to select the best 18 boats with 4 races one discard (one race per boat type). Best 18 boats pass to the final regatta, 4 races one discard.

Scoring and Protests

ISAF fleet system, low score. Finals in any NAT will be rated coef 3.5 for WTS Standard points plus EVT points Protests using standard SAILX procedure. DSQ =-1000

Prizes and Titles

NATS valid with at least 4 sailors completing half the planed races. Prizes for winners of NATs with at least 10 sailors completing half the planned races
