Sail TV the first and most comprehensive TV centric website, dedicated to the sport of sailing launches new website with advanced functionality.
Mark David CEO iSports Ltd (parent of Sail TV) announced today "I'm delighted that the new website clearly reflects and defines our three distinct channel brands - News, Lifestyle and Action”. He added, “Sail TV's objective is to be the worlds leading aggregator for all IP video content that involves the sport of sailing.”
Uploading User Generated Content (UGC) will be open to the public by the end of the June, but in the first instance Sail TV wants to encourage event organisers to post content onto the site where a new User Video section has been added. Already there is near-live racing coverage of both the Charleston Race Week and Tybee 500, using Sail TV's technology.
With sponsor budgets tightening - could this be the future of regatta TV coverage? "If this is the case, Sail TV is ready to lead the format and technology. It's important as a channel to build personality and this is only achieved by the people who contribute," offers Mark. "This is why personality-led coverage is an important part of our future line-up."
He adds, "We're striving to be the one-stop-shop for your sailing fix, the YouTube of sailing, and that means not only having the latest news and racing footage, but also allowing sailors to upload their own content. We want to see regular video blogs from people from around the globe, offering their viewpoint on issues that affect the sailing world," says Mark.
June is a big sailing month with Sail TV featuring highlights of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Medemblik, as well as all the latest news from the Volvo Ocean Race, Audi Med Cup, RC44's, WMRT and iShares Cup. In addition, Sail TV offers viewers the chance to catch up on coverage from last weeks Fireball Nationals at WPNSA, fronted by Sail TV's presenter and former Team GBR 49er coach, Richard Parslow. Sail TV continues with its weekly roundup reports from ex-America's Cup sailor, Sebastien Destremau and will soon introduce reporters from both Oceania and the USA.
