We've arrived at the penultimate competition day in a world championship that confirmed the equality of the eleven crews and boats of the fleet. Mitsubishi and Santander were today's winners, reducing its distance from Patagonia, which is still top position overall with 29 points.
The seventh race started at 13:15 pm with an 8 knots NE wind. The champion of this race was Horacio Pavez's Mitsubishi, which made a very good start and took the lead from the beginning of the race. Horacio described us: "What helped us were the characteristics of the sea today. This sea with more deep waves is more like our race area in Chile. Even in the second race I told a crewmember that this court reminded me of Algarrobo and may be a harbinger of good things that will come. We have to keep improving, the first days were very unfortunate and yesterday also we had the incident with Santander, but anyway, we have to keep improving, that's our expectation."
The wind increased up to 12 knots at the beginning of the second race of the day and the boats set off at 15:00s. Jorge Araneda's Santander leaded the fleet during all the race, followed by Mitsubishi, which is discounting points to keep first position in the Soto40 South American Tour.
There's two more races left to define the Championship. Follow live: www.soto40.org/posicionadores.php
