COMING UP THIS MONTH: Seamaster Sailing – Programme 20, August 2005
The introduction of fleet racing has changed the face of the America’s Cup – a head to head contest since 1851 – and with 12 teams signed up to the challenge, Seamaster was on the front line in Valencia for Act 5 to see how the formidable fleet shaped up.
We bring you a Seamaster exclusive as our team climbed onboard with Movistar Skipper Bouwe Bekking for a tour of the boat – the VO70s are a brand new and exciting class and Movistar has already smashed the monohull 24 hour world speed record. We found out why these boats are shaping up to bring us the most exciting Volvo Ocean Race ever.
The Open 60 fleet were the centre of attention at this years edition of Skandia Cowes Week – the world’s largest regatta. Add four Brit celebrities into the mix for one day’s racing and a media frenzy descended on the Isle of Wight – and, of course, Seamaster was onboard each boat in prime position.
The 100ft Maximus has come over from New Zealand for 2005 and has taken the Northern Hemisphere offshore circuit by storm. We go onboard to bring you the very latest in swing keel, rotating mast, pure indulgence technology.
Plus, Seamaster Meets Bruce Farr as he faces our own inquisition on the America’s Cup rule and we ask: when will he take ownership of that elusive trophy?
