COMING UP THIS MONTH: Seamaster Sailing – Programme 22, October 2005
The Volvo Ocean Race fleet are gearing up for their race start from Vigo, Spain to take on the planet – the former Whitbread Race is a must-tick box for many professionals in the sport and the new class – the VO70 – is lining this race up to be a fascinating battle between advanced technology and the extreme conditions of Ocean Racing. Seamaster’s preview this month includes a definitive form guide to each of the seven teams getting ready to hit the start line.
A different format for this month’s Seamaster Meets... As two race favourites skippers go head-to-head before the start of the Volvo Ocean Race - Mike Sanderson from ABN Amro meets with Movistar’s Bouwe Bekking in an exclusive on-screen stand-off Trapani, Sicilly was the next stop on the America’s Cup Acts tour and with three Italian teams amongst the entries. The crowds were drawn to watch the racing in their thousands. Seamaster brings you the next best thing to a live viewpoint – with the action from the Act 8 Match Racing – Alinghi came out on top again but the gap between the teams is getting narrower.
We travel to Russia with Ben Ainslie as he scoops his incredible fourth world title and head to Germany where the Volvo Champions Race series brought sailing to the spectators with an innovative format for spectators plus we bring you the latest news from the world of grand prix yachting.
